About the event
Hororata Highland Games 2026
Sat, 7 Nov 2026, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Just 45 minutes from Christchurch, experience one of the South Island’s most iconic rural events at the Hororātā Highland Games. Set in a small Canterbury village, this action-packed day celebrates Scottish culture with a distinctly Kiwi twist.
Watch world-class athletes compete in traditional heavy events, enjoy massed pipe bands, Highland dancing, drumming, clan displays and strongman competitions — all in one place. Families will love the full day of entertainment, food trucks, craft stalls, kids’ activities and relaxed rural atmosphere.
